Master Tim Macais
Owner/Founder

Master Tim Macias began training in martial arts at age 17 in Riverside, California. While attending the Dave Hopkins Kung Fu San Soo Association, he was exposed to American Kick-Boxing, Brazilian Jiujitsu and Kung Fu San Soo. In 2012 Tim was awarded his black belt in Kung Fu San Soo by Master Dave Hopkins. Soon after receiving his blackbelt, Tim had the great privilege of assisting Master Dave Hopkins – a 2006 Masters Hall of Fame inductee – during kids and adult classes as well as teaching private students.

Moving to Humboldt County in 2017, Tim began training at Humboldt Jiujitsu. Currently a brown belt, Tim served as Humboldt Jiujitsu’s head striking instructor. During his 15 year long martial arts career, Tim has demonstrated and taught across California and in Europe. Tim has trained with professional Kick-Boxers, MMA and Muay Thai fighters. In 2019 Tim was invited to train at the World Muay Alliance in Bangkok, Thailand. There, he studied with Master General Tunwakom who introduced him to the fundamentals of Muay Lertrit. Tim has spent a significant time teaching team sports, martial arts and even yoga. His students include children as young as 4 and adults as old as 69. In 2021 Master Dave Hopkins awarded Tim the rank of Master.

Currently residing in Humboldt County, California, Tim is a graduate of Riverside City College, California Polytechnic University, Pomona and Humboldt State University (Now Cal Poly, Humboldt). Tim received a number of Associate Degrees from Riverside City College; a Bachelors of Arts in Sociology from Cal Poly Pomona; and in 2020 Tim earned a Masters of Social Science from Humboldt State University’s Environment and Community program. Tim’s Masters thesis – Lethal Floral Patterns – connected social theory and martial arts.
